1. 锐度：已有大量的研究显示人及动物的视觉功能会随着年龄的增长出而衰退,表现为视锐度(acuity)和对比敏感度(contrast sensitivity)的下降,对方位和运动方向检测能力的减弱,视觉信号的分析及提取速度的降低等方面.
2. 敏锐：再透过负责调节功能的水晶体(lens)等构造后, 於视网膜(retina)上,眼睛凝视位置的影像即 於视网膜上的中央小窝锥 细胞,完全没有杆 细胞;中央小窝以外的边缘区域(peripheral)则有大 的杆上视觉敏锐 (acuity)最高, 中央小窝愈远,
