1. The Taicang Port has opened passenger routes to the Shimonoseki port in Japan and the Keelung port and Taichung port in Taiwan.
2. Thereafter this map was used as reference for the signing of Treaty of Shimonoseki.
3. In more recent times, it was opened up to foreigners in 1895 under the Treaty of Shimonoseki.
