1. 明代河南文学处于历史低谷，但就整个北中国而言，明代河南文学的成就有目共睹：第一、有文献可供稽考的作家近700人，存世别集达60余种；第二、弘治、正德年间的中州文坛涌现出李梦阳、何景明、王廷相等杰出文学家；第三、开封、汝宁等州府文学异常繁荣，作家数量可与江南文学次发达州府相媲美；第四、明代河南是分藩重省，这些宗藩中不乏隽异诗彦。
Literature creation in Henan province during Ming dynasty was undeveloped in history, but, compared with those of other provinces in north China, it was remarkable. Recorded litterateurs total about 700 and extant corpuses total more than 60. Outstanding scholars like Li Mengyang, He Jingming and Wang Tingxiang sprang up during the reign of Hongzhi and the reign of Zhengde. Moreover, literature creation in some prefectures like Kaifeng and Ru`ning prospered and even caught up with that in some prefectures in Jiangnan, where literature creation had been flourishing.
